The rooftop square at NEMO Science Museum is open! This brand-new, green area of the museum is the ideal place to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat while enjoying fantastic views over Amsterdam.
The rooftop square blends nature and technology. Discover the health benefits of green spaces for cities, study the clouds, measure air quality, spot different species of urban birds and learn how smart ideas are helping us to live more sustainably. The roof is designed to accommodate plants and animals in the heart of a European capital.
The rooftop square hosts weekly live music performances in summer. Check out the programme for the line-up.
See Amsterdam from a completely different perspective from the brand-new vantage point above the restaurant, offering spectacular views over the city.
The roof is full of plants that are good for biodiversity and people living in the city. Blackbirds forage between the bushes. Blue tits and great tits hunt for insects. Tree trunks and boulders offer a hiding place for small animals. And the rooftop’s plants provide cooling during hot weather. Go up and discover!
Stratus, cirrus, cumulus... Clouds come in all shapes and sizes, each with their own name. What types of cloud will you spot today?
The rooftop square is open every day from 10:00 to 17:30. On Thursdays and Fridays during the summer months, the rooftop square is open until 21:00. Access to the roof is free of charge. Please take the stairs on the east side.
Up on the roof, you’ll find the Museum Restaurant and the Conservatory Bar with a large adjacent outdoor seating area. The restaurant serves a varied menu of freshly made dishes, snacks and hot and cold drinks. At the bottom of the rooftop square next to the butterfly garden, you will find an outdoor seating area with a refreshment kiosk.
