Autumn holidays

There is plenty to discover at NEMO Science Museum during the autumn holidays. Get creative in extra workshops, enjoy the Chain Reaction and go on a journey through space in the film Space: The New Frontier.

  • 11 October to 26 October
  • All ages

Drawing in the Maker Space

Make your drawings come to life in the Maker Space. Draw a picture and discover how artificial intelligence (AI) transforms it. Or sketch a comic strip and set it in motion with a zoetrope, an old film technique in which individual images form a short film when viewed in sequence.

Welcome to the world of action and reaction

  • Chain Reaction

A spectacular demonstration of potential and kinetic energy. Discover action and reaction, cause and effect in the Chain Reaction.

  • Build your own chain reaction

Knock over dominoes, set a seesaw in motion, launch a catapult and ring a bell.

Film: Space The New Frontier

The documentary Space: The New Frontier takes a look behind the scenes at some of the most promising space technologies and missions of our time, giving audiences a first glimpse into the not-so-distant future.

Science Live: I see what you taste

You can learn a lot from faces. If someone looks happy while eating, you assume they are enjoying their food. If someone pulls a face, you assume they are disappointed with their food. But how much can you really tell from a face? Can you tell what someone is tasting? Find out how well you can guess what someone else is tasting in this study by Maastricht University!

Extra workshops

  • Make a spinning top

Pick a pin and build a spinning top in any shape you like. Give it a spin and see what happens!

  • Hands-on chemistry

Lab coat? Check! Safety glasses? Check! Carry out surprising tests and experiments using everyday objects.

  • Guess the device

Your alarm clock, toaster, telephone: would you recognise everyday devices if they were taken apart?

  • Make the lamp light up

Get started with electricity and make an electrical circuit. Can you make the light blub glow.
