Museumnacht: Ctrl + alt + connect

During Museumnacht, NEMO invites you to rediscover the power of connection: with yourself, with others and with the world around you.

Ready to connect?

Our senses are our physical gateway to the outside world. But what role does technology play in the way we feel, perceive and connect?

Discover what happens when you look at the connections in your everyday life from a different angle. Flirt with new ideas (and people!) on a speed date, explore your nighttime dreams or see yourself from a distance through a VR headset. From intimate to chaotic, analogue to digital: tonight is all about making connections.

    Five-Minute Chemistry

Come speed dating with Café C(rush)! We’re setting the clock to five minutes. Forget algorithms - this time, we’re testing real chemistry. Fill in your match preferences, get paired up and dive into an experiment together at NEMO. No swiping, no screens, only real-life encounters.

  • A man in a lab coat is grinding a piece of metal

    The Spoon Press

When was the last time you made something with your own hands? In a world of mass production and ready-made products, we’ve become increasingly disconnected from the making process. At The Spoon Press, you press your own spoon from a sheet of stainless steel and put it to the test right away with a scoop of ice cream.

The Line is the Game

Waiting in line is something we do everywhere, often without knowing what we’re actually waiting for. The Line is the Game takes that instinct and turns it into a game. In this queue, you get a character, a task and one superpower you can use to shake up the entire line.

Join the queue and see how quickly strangers connect when that door just refuses to open.

Panel: Decoding Dreams

What happens in your mind when you dream? And could we ever capture that world? In this live panel, NEMO Kennislink explores the connection between our conscious and unconscious minds. Scientists discuss sleep and dreams, while design studio MODEM demonstrates its Dream Recorder: a device that you tell about your dreams and that translates them into low-resolution videos.

    Outside Looking In

Put on a VR headset and enter an enclosed space with a group of people. One fixed camera films the room, allowing you to suddenly see yourself from the outside. What does that do to the way you relate to yourself, the people around you and the space you’re in? A confronting and disorienting experience that puts your sense of connection to the test.

  • Three people are setting off a small chain reaction

    DIY Chain Reaction

One little push and everything starts moving. Together with others, build an ever-growing chain reaction throughout Museumnacht: knock over dominoes, set a seesaw in motion, launch a catapult and ring a bell. Welcome to the world of action and reaction!
