May holiday

There’s lots to discover at NEMO Science Museum during the May holidays. Get started in extra workshops, feast your eyes on the Chain Reaction exhibit, and take part in scientific research.

  • 18 April to 3 May
  • All ages
  • Open every day. Closed on King’s Day (27 April)

Welcome to the world of action and reaction

  • Chain Reaction

A spectacular demonstration of potential and kinetic energy. Discover action and reaction, cause and effect in the Chain Reaction.

  • Build your own chain reaction

Knock over dominoes, set a seesaw in motion, launch a catapult and ring a bell.

Science Live

Interested in participating in real scientific research? You can do just that at Science Live, where scientists carry out their research with NEMO visitors as participants.

Details about the research taking place during the May holidays will be announced shortly.

Extra workshops

  • Step into the Laboratory

Lab coat? Check! Safety glasses? Check! Carry out surprising tests and experiments using everyday objects.

  • Build a sorting machine

Discover how smart machines work by building your own sorter that separates large and small objects.

  • Puzzle with patterns

With different shapes, you can create an infinite number of patterns. Try it in a game of Palago!

  • Guess the device

Your alarm clock, toaster, telephone: would you recognise everyday devices if they were taken apart?

  • Make the lamp light up

Get started with electricity and make an electrical circuit. Can you make the light blub glow.

  • Race with a wooden figure

Choose a wooden figure and let it race down a slope. See what makes it go faster or slower, and find out the quickest way to get your figure to the bottom.

Demo: For Sure?!

Discover how you can prove that something is really true and what happens when you put your assumptions to the test. Through impressive and interactive experiments, you will learn how scientists work step by step, with questions, predictions and experiments.

This demo is in Dutch.
