Summer on the rooftop square at NEMO

Starting 25 June, every Thursday the rooftop of NEMO is transformed into a stage for exciting live acts. Enjoy free entry, summer vibes and the best views in Amsterdam. On Thursday the rooftop will be open until 21:00, with free live music. The rooftop music evenings are organised in collaboration with Stichting GRAP, the organisation for Amsterdam’s pop music scene.

Trackvogels

Trackvogels is an Amsterdam-based collective that’’s always on the move, and you can hear that in their music. They blend sounds from all over the world to create a style all their own. Expect influences from North-West Africa and South America, with a hypnotic, warm and raw feel.

Min Taka

Min Taka, who takes her name from a myth about a disappearing planet, moves effortlessly between indie, liquid DnB, synth and hyperpop. She shares her inner world through songs about identity, femininity and connection. From intimate and gentle to compelling and electronic.

Frank Arnold

Dark yet danceable. Frank Arnold, a collective of musicians from the Amsterdam scene, creates Dutch new wave, exploring insecurities you recognise but would rather not admit. Somewhere between Talking Heads and Doe Maar, with a disco ball thrown in.

Gonzo Bimbo

Italian glamour meets the Amsterdam underground. This Dutch/Italian duo delivers danceable grooves and extravagant performances that sit somewhere between a concert and a club night, with maximum energy and minimal equipment.

Flevoland

Two lads, one absurd idea: a boy band inspired by the most artificial province of the Netherlands. Their geo-pop sounds as flat and surreal as the landscape itself – catchy, trance-like and unexpectedly profound.

Cavolo Nero

Cavolo Nero breaks down genre boundaries with psychedelia, funk, disco and afrobeat, inviting you into their ‘mountain disco’ – a place where your worries melt away and the grooves take over.

Mototroko

Amsterdam’s loudest young talents, united in a multi-piece brass band. Dance, funk and house come together in an explosive mix that will blow you away. Expect chaos. The best kind.

Fata Morgana

Seven friends, one mission: to get the crowd moving. With brass jazz disco full of improvisation and infectious positivity, Fata Morgana isn’t just any band; it’s a live experience you won’t forget.

Cardigan Inn

New wave with swagger. Cardigan Inn sounds like New Order at a Parquet Courts party, carried by the charm of frontman Pablo Nollet. Franz Ferdinand are already fans. You will be too.

Plastic Family

Timeless hooks and infectious harmonies. Plastic Family brings back the golden age of pop music with fresh power pop full of energy, melody and a healthy dose of rock ‘n’ roll.

WABR

An electronic act that shakes you awake. WABR seeks the balance between reality and simulation, with Dutch lyrics about doctors and time constraints, somewhere between Mura Masa and Doe Maar with a hint of retro game music. Taking it seriously is optional.

IDA

Bold, vulnerable and uncompromising. IDA’’s Dutch hyper-pop dances wildly through the adult world, with sharp lyrics and eclectic productions that have taken her from Noorderslag to a sold-out TivoliVredenburg.

stay away from dante!

Dreamy, layered and elusive. Dante blends rap, vocals and harmonies into a universe of his own, ranging from collaborations with the Concertgebouw Orchestra to Noorderslag. Music that floats between genres yet always finds its place.

Amazone

Surinamese-Dutch power with a sound all of its own. Amazone blends Kawina, Kaseko, R&B and house into stories of identity, love and connection, carried by a warm voice and an all-female band.

Cocobolo

Global Funk at it's best. This trio blends surf rock, sixties soul and nineties hip-hop into a danceable vintage sound, so intuitive and playful that you forget there aren't any lyrics.

Rens & Jaïr

A collision between poetry and punk. Hip-hop with humour, urgency and a healthy dose of rawness, about fatherhood, friendship and growing up. They grab you by the throat, but out of pure love.

Karafaan

Hip-hop with brass, danceable grooves and untameable energy. Karafaan sweep you up in a whirlwind of Dutch lyrics and danceable grooves, somewhere between Typhoon and Khruangbin. Their caravan is setting off. Hop on.

All music evenings on the NEMO rooftop take place from 17:30 to 21:00.

Entry to the rooftop square is free. You can reach the rooftop via the steps from the street or the lift in the museum’s reception hall. The restaurant remains open all evening, as does the kiosk with its terrace at the bottom of the rooftop.

The rooftop music evenings are organised in collaboration with Stichting GRAP, the organisation for Amsterdam’s pop music scene. Every year, GRAP organises competitions, showcases and festivals. This gives Amsterdam-based bands and acts the opportunity to showcase their talent to the public, the media and the music industry.
