Why do we use so much plastic?

Plastic is one of the most influential inventions of all time. It is strong, versatile, durable, and can be made in almost every shape. A material that is perfect for all kinds of applications. For example, for toys or parts of cars. Plastic is also used in hospitals and labs to keep everything clean. And, of course, in food packaging, to keep vegetables and fruits and other things fresh longer.

But, there are disadvantages to plastic too. Plastic is difficult to recycle and does not decay. As a result, the Earth is becoming polluted by microplastics. Microplastics are small bits of plastic that have spread into the environment and are harmful to both humans and animals. Scientists are working hard to find a solution to both reducing the use of plastic and removing plastic particles from nature.
